“They” Brought Many to Him

Matthew 8:16

“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:”

I was struck with the word "they" on reading this. "They brought unto him many . . .”  We are here to help each other.  Sometimes we can’t do it ourselves.  Just think about those people possessed with spirits or so sick they are stuck in bed or the lack the ability to travel to Jesus. Healing would not have been possible. The pain would have continued if “they” did not help them or carry them to Jesus.  It is a small thing, but I love that it says “they” brought them to Him. I'm sure some came to be healed alone, but Matthew here calls out those who brought others for healing. Some need help just to reach the source of help and healing. Some cannot do it themselves.

We are the “they” in this story.  There are always others around us who need help.  We need each other to return home to our Father.  Eternal Life is a team sport.
